Scholarships from SWE Phoenix

SWE PHX dedicates >$10k to supporting local college students through the Collegiate Scholarship Program. Every year, SWE PHX recognizes exceptional engineering students for their academic merit, contributions to the Society, and potential to succeed in the engineering profession. This year, our section will have two application periods: one for graduating seniors and one for all other undergraduate levels. Email awards@swephoenix.com for more information.

Awards

The Society of Women Engineers strives to advance and honor the contributions of women at all stages of their careers as well as recognize the successes of SWE members and individuals who enhance the engineering profession through contributions to industry, education and the community.


Past SWE Phoenix Award Winners


In 2023, the SWE PHX Section was recognized with the Bronze SWE Mission Award that embody SWE core values and demonstrate continuous improvement and growth as they work to achieve the Society’s strategic goals.

In 2021, Amanda Levenson was awarded the Rising Technical Contributor Award for technical leadership demonstrating vision, initiative, and accountability; and for tackling complex challenges in semiconductor fabrication with communication and teamwork that inspires and gets results.

In 2020, Neethu Elizabeth Simon was awarded ​the SWE Distinguished New Engineer Award for encouraging a diverse and inclusive work environment; for being an ally for improving diversity through educational outreach; and for being a powerful technical contributor and advocate for STEM education”

In 2019, the SWE PHX Section was recognized with the Gold SWE Mission Award overall, and for best practices in Membership Retention and Engagement, and SWE Leadership Development and Training.

In 2019, Maira Garcia was awarded with the Outstanding SWE Counselor Award “for mentoring engineering students with boundless energy; for demonstrating dedication and a strong work ethic; and for inspiring young women to believe in their power to achieve.” 

In 2019, Stacy Kalisz Johnson was recognized with the SWE Spark Award “for creating and nurturing a multitude of mentoring relationships, for a legacy of networks among women at all career stages; and for dedicated and tireless volunteering.”

In 2017, Jennifer Reich was honored with the SWE Emerging Leader Award. This award honors women engineers who have been actively enaged in an engineering or technology profession, and have demonstrated outstanding technical excellence as an individual resulting in significant accomplishments. 

In 2016, SWE members were nominated for awards at the 2016 Annual Phoenix Engineers Week Awards Gala. SWE Treasurer Barbara Haney won the Outstanding Engineer Award.

In 2014 the SWE Phoenix Section was awarded the Judges Award at AZ Tech Council’s Governor’s Celebration of Innovation.
